RESEARCH METHODOLOGY
3.0 Introduction
The essence of this chapter is to expose
the method of investigation that was applied
on the study.
This chapter focuses on the following
sub-topics: Research Design, Population of the study, sample and sampling
techniques, method of data collection, validity of the instrument and method of
data analysis.
3.1 Research
Design
The researcher obtained data by
gathering of opinions from journalists in Bayelsa State through a structured
questionnaires. The obtained data were analyzed to find the perception of
freedom of information bill among journalists in Bayelsa State>
3.2 Population
of the Study
The population of this study only
consists of Journalists in Bayelsa State.
3.3 Sample
and Sampling Technique
The study sample size consists of
(150) respondents. The sample size was selected to represent the various
characters of the population. This number is considered okay hence it will
support the necessary static for achieving the aims of the study. Simple random
sampling was adopted in this research work for efficiency and effectiveness to
prevail.
3.4 Method
of Data Collection
The researcher employed the use of
structured questionnaire and response from the respondents. The questionnaire
was design to accommodate both open and close ended questions. The open ended
questions are included to obtain respondents opinion not contained in the
structured question.
The questionnaire were administered to
(200) persons, and the respondent are journalists. In order to generate valid
and reliable data, the questionnaire embodies an introductory note, which
states the aim and purpose of the study.
3.5 Validity
of the Instrument
The questionnaire was presented to the
supervisor and other specialists in the field of the study who are
knowledgeable in the construction of questionnaire to evaluate its face and
content validity.
3.6 Method
of Data Analysis
Suitable statistical procedures or
method was applied in the collection of data. The data collected through the
questionnaire were analyzed by using tables and percentages.
