RESEARCH METHODOLOGY ON CONCLUSION AND RECOMMENDATIONS ON RESEARCH METHODOLOGY ON LITERATURE REVIEW ON WOMEN LIBERATION STEREOTYPED COVERAGE AND REPORTING IN NIGERIA: A STUDY OF THE NATION AND VANGUARD NEWSPAPERS

RESEARCH METHODOLOGY
3.1     RESEARCH DESIGN
          In this work, the survey type of research was adopted to guide the research survey research in the viewers of Wali (2002) as quoted in Nwankwo (2006), involves a large number of people or items. It is used to ascertain the current status of a problem or phenomenon by studying a representation of the population or the entire population.
          Also, F. O. Obodooeze (1996), “surveys are not characterized by manipulations and controls that dominate experimental studies” (p.8). Populations involved in surveys are usually large.

3.2     POPULATION
          The population of this study is the whole Government Secondary School in Yenagoa. This was chose because of the high number of children in Secondary Schools.
3.3     SAMPLE SIZE
          According to Cookery (2001) states that 5% should be used to decide the sample size when the population is above one thousand (1,000). The level of significance which shows the percentage of the research is fixed at 0.05 or 0.01, which would determine the acceptance or rejection of the research.
          Therefore, having a fixed population of 0.05 representing 5% would be used to determine the sample size.
          In this vein, the Taro Yamen’s formula was used to determine the sample size. It is stated below:

n        =       N
            1 + N(e)2
Where n      =       sample
N                =       population
e                  =       level of error of significance

Applying the formula, the research got the following result.
Sample size          =       1,000
n        =       N                1+ 1000 (0.05)2
            1 + N(e)2

n        =                 1,000
                   1+ 1000 x (0.0025)

n        =                 1,000
                   1+ 1000 x (0.0025)

n        =       1,000
                   1+ 2.5

n        =       1,000
                   3.5

Sample size = 285.7

Approximately 286
3.4     SAMPLING TECHNIQUE
          The sampling technique used in this work was the simple random sample.
          According to multistage African Journalism in perspective (2010) edited by Callix Udofia, the simple random sample involves the drawing of names individually from a population, as in a lottery. The method was used to select respondents from the population. It is believed that his sample has the same characteristics with the entire population.
3.5     METHOD OF DATA ANALYSIS
          For the analysis of the data collection in this study, a simple non-mathematical table approach was adopted and weighed in simple percentage.
